I know I have seen a couple positing on tires...
BUT I searched this site, and could not find "True" comments on the Nitto 555 tires. I have a 2002 coupe, and need some new boots.
I can't afford the RF again but I'm looking for a decent set of tires.
Superb tire for the money! I had a set last me nearly 65,000 miles. You are going to sacrifice a little performance in exchange for the longevity though. The other cool thing is that you can upsize to a
255/45 ZR17 front
285/40 ZR18 back
on your stock wheels with no problem.
I upsized to 18s all around and they did not have the new size I needed or I would have bought another set without even blinking. For $800.00 mounted, balanced and out the door, the price cannot be beat. They will last three or four times longer than the Khumos
Don't have any personal experience with Nitto tires, but the guys in the forced induction forum running big HP/TQ numbers love their handling and traction characteristics. Nitto RII are supposed to be better in the rain/wet conditions vs. Nitto 01s. I'm seriously considering Nittos as well.
I recently put Nitto 555's on my AE vert. Sold the RF's but first needed to know how much wear they had. Interestingly, Goodyear states that their RF's have less tread depth than most, when new. The Nitto's have a lot more tread (depth) and a higher wear rating. I'm extremely satisfied with the ride and noise level of these tires. They look good too.
BTW, I could have bought them for $628 from Discount Tire online. Contacted a good local alignment shop and bought them, balanced and mounted PROPERLY) for $750. For the small difference, I've bought future support from my local guy.

Excellent tire. They look great and perform admirably in all weather situations. I went with 255/40/17 up front and 285/35/18 out back and love them. For a bit more traction, at the expense of longevity, I recently switched to Nitto Drag Radials out back.
Love mine. No complaints at all. I probably would have never bought them myself, but there was a brand new set on the car when I got it. Will most likely buy another set when the time comes.

Can anyone say good or bad about these??
Thanks a lot.
Which 555's? I have the 555 Extreme ZR's and they are great. Good handling, quiet, long treadlife. They look decent as well. Got them shipped to me from Discount Tire Online for $592.
