I think it looks good from a distance (didn't have close up picture) plus you can always take it off.....I've seen cool stainless gas door covers at mid america that look sharp don't know if they still sell
Like the stripes and the wheels - can't decide about the filler cap.
I cant either. Sometimes I think it looks great..and other times I"m kinda...eh . Since its so easy to remove, I decided to leave it on for a while and see if it grows on me or not
Breaks up the line of the car too much, too busy..
IMHO: However, because it can be easily removed, leave it on for a while. If it really grows on you keep it, and, if not, then remove it. Remember, it is your Vette.
What do you guys think ? Does it make the car look racey or ricey ?
Yipes. Not good. But maybe I'm missing the reason you did it. Why would you bother to draw attention to the panel that covers your gas cap? I'm sure the designers of the C5 (and most cars, for that matter) wish they could visually eliminate the lid altogether. I certainly don't think it makes much sense to have your car shout "Hey, look! This is where the gas goes in!"
Despite the fact that I'm not sure they're my taste, at least the aluminum replacement caps (that do away with the stock panel) attempt to be racey by virtue of the fact that they're functional and found on many race cars. Blacking out the panel, though... I don't know. Doesn't seem to add anything "racey" at all. Just distracting.
The good part? Without that distraction, your car looks absolutely great. Love the stripes, too!

PS -- More info than you were looking for, I'm sure. Sorry about that.

It is your Vette and something different is always great, now I do not care for the black gas cover
