Default plug wires with headers

im waiting for my lg street series headers to come in and i think id like to get new plug wires. the oem ones are very good but they cant handle the heat from the headers (thats what ive heard) so i was going to go with the performance oem wires but they only cost 45.95 (for that price im questioning the quality) and i checked out the magnecor wires (8.5mm wires cost 96.00 aprox). how is the quality of the magnecor wires on their site they say these wires can handle the heat produced by headers. can someone let me know how the magnecors are or if there is a better set of wires. msd wires dont have that good of a rep. thanx brad

When I had my tune done, MTI put a set of their wires on my car. They are extremely high quality wires. You may want to consider giving them a call...

I'll try to get a pic for you.

edit (had wrong link in there... fixed)

I just had my headers installed at DTE a few days ago and they recommended that I stick with the stock wires, which I did.

Here's a pic of the Magnacores I ran for a bit before the headers. You can use the stock boot protectors with them as shown. I switched to Taylor 10.4 mm Thundervolt wires for better clearance around the primaries when I installed my headers. The Taylors have a smaller spark plug boot than stock and don't touch the FLP header primaries as the Magnecores did. (YMMV with different headers.) I also use a set of Taylor 1200 deg. F Fire Sleeves for a bit more protection. Both sets of wires work great.

Just installed LG Pros yesterday; went w/ stock wires with the metal heat shields and then slipped Koolsox over 'em.

I'm hoping that's enough protection w/ the Jet-Hot coated headers.

I just had American Racing Headers installed earlier this week. I used Calloway wires that I got as a gift. The shop that installed the headers were very impressed with the construction and fit of the wires with the headers. Time will tell, but they look like they can take the heat.

How did you use the kool sox and the heat shield?

Did you put the kool sox from the coil pack with the open end down by the spark plug?

TIA

Kool sox (ecklers) big enough to fit over the stock metal shields on the wires all the way up to the coil-pak end of the wire.
