Sense I lowered mind, I can't go anywhere that has speed bumps. I was taking my son to a soccer game last week and the parking lot entrance had several speed bumps. I ran up on them before I realized there were there, so the two cars behind me got pissed because they had to back up and let me out.
I believe this car may have been lowered by a previous owner. I'll get it on a lift soon.
This link provides pictures that will help you to determine if your car has been lowered on stock bolts and will provide instructions on how to lower or raise the height of your C5:
The bottom of your center air dam should be 3.7 inches from the ground at the stock height and bottom of your rocker panels just in front of your rear wheels should be about 5 1/4" from the ground at stock height.
If your car has been fully lowered on stock bolts as mine is in the signature pictures below, you can deduct about an inch from each of the stock measurements. The space between the top of each tire and the lip of each wheel well will look like mine in my signature pictures.
after having one of the SIDE mounting screws break I remove the 2 outer air dams.
I also did not know how much of the center noise was from the springs hitting the hard plastic. I put a couple of layers of black duct tape between the springs and the air dam.
also bought the frame savers wheels and rocker bars. the rocker bars now block part of the hole for the jacking pucks- but do not prevent jacking up of the car.
Scrape all the time. Little rain here so no drains, just large dips on cross streets. I can go at a snails pace and they still scrape. The rails even scrape sometimes. I just picked up a set of Granatelli (sp?) rail savers that bolt on the front. Going to install them tonight. Guy I bought em from said they work well. I paid $79 for the set, new. http://www.corvettegarage.com/ is where I got em. They are local to me and a also a supporting vendor on the site.
Not a good store to go into with a pocketfull of $100 bills. I could easily spend a few thousand in there. Must resist temptation to accessorize.
Good idea, but get them from A & A. Andy invented them and has been selling them for years. Also get the Rocker rails. The set of both is $109. See the bottom of this page: https://www.aandacorvette.com/cart/s...sp?MainCatID=5
The noise is terrible but it doesn't generally do any damage unless you hit really hard.
I think that occasionally scraping the bottom of the air dam is more or less expected. Mine has shredded plastic hanging off the bottom since its been scraped a few times.. no biggy.
That's what they're there for. I wouldn't remove them, as they are a good warning that you ARE scraping something and to just take it easy to make sure you don't damage the front fascia. The replacement parts are so cheap....let em scrape.
Scraping the air dam is not a big deal. Bouncing off the bumper bars just driving down the middle of the street does get annoying though. Good old New England roads...
I lowered mine on stock bolts. Scrapes everything now. I don't mind, the plastic air dam pieces can easily be replaced. You definitely have to go over speed bumps slow and at an angle.
I wouldn't raise it back up though, it looks too good lowered

My air dams will scrape occasionally, but they are flexible and no real damage is done other than marring up the plastic. Cheap and easy to replace. I'd keep them on since they help direct air around the car and into the radiator.
