Exhaust Question....(No, not another cat-back thread!)
I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust between the stock manifolds and my aftermarket cat-back. I want an x-pipe that completely replaces the stock center section and has no cats. Any suggestions? Would I need O2 sims or will it run fine with the cats plugged into the cat-less pipe? Anyone running a similar setup? Performance results? Did you feel any difference....good or bad?
If so, I wouldn't bother with an off-road X-pipe with stock manifolds now. The minimal gains are not worth the time or money.
If you get some LT headers, then sure, opt for the no-cat setup.
You'll need 02 sims or have the rear 02 sensors edited out of the PCM program unless you want to live with the check engine light on permanently.
The car won't run any differently if you remove the cats and keep the 02 sensors as-is, since the rear sensors only purpose is to provide a yes/no indication to the PCM that the cats are functioning correctly. You'll most likely only get a P0420 and P0430 codes (either of which will turn on the CE light).
