Someone had posted some pics of a C5 involved in a serious accident where both airbags deployed; looking at the pics, I don't believe we have anything to worry about regarding the steering wheel decal or even the airbag letters; it didn't appear to me, based on the pics, that the driver or the passenger would be wearing any emblems if the airbags deployed
kinda toes along the same line of putting your plates in the window.... You know you've seen it... just imagin having that come back at you.. pretty sure I've cut myself while installing a plate before... can't imagin that thing moving with that kinda force...
it get's worse, some of the sickos actually stick on VINYL 'CORVETTE' LETTERS ON THE PASS SIDE BAG!!! imagine what those little pos's would do
Hey, I really didn't mean it as a joke! I have a vinyl decal on my wheel, and it's exactly that, a DECAL, which would break apart if the airbag went off.
Now on the other hand, the Cyberdine item is advertised as "3D", which lends me to believe that it must have some mass to it. Are there any automotive engineers listening who might chime in??? What is the force of an airbag??? We already know they have killed children and frail adults.
Would anyone here want a plastic emblem flying into them at that speed???
The Cyberdine emblems are very flexible vinyl, almost rubbery. They have very little thickness to them and are not hard. They are similiar to the puffy stickers available for kids. If the airbag blew, this decal would not harm. It would be similiar to getting wacked with a window cling.
I bought the whole nine yards from EBay. Wheel, fuel rail stripes, sill etc from EBay id 91ZR1 or admin@decalspec.com. Reasonable price, good quality. I'm happy. They do take patience and prep to get on right (alcohol etc to clean off any protectants)
