C5 Front Speakers discussed inside...
As most of us have experienced, I started to wonder if the Bose really did Blow - when on certain songs with certain high or bass sections, I would hear lots ...'distortion' while at 'acceptable volume levels'.
some rightly seemed to suggest that the BOSE logo/pin was the cause, with the rattle n hum btween it and the grill ---> silicone sealant the solution
I got a little-bit-fed-up-one-day and just plane pulled the pins all the way out - and lo, they are actually like lapel-pins! lol (not sure what the horrendous spike was sticking in to?? but nevermind.
still feeling that darn rattle at certain points in certain tracks, so im like, well if its loose, then so too , maybe the grill has got a bit of 'flex' in it...
so I pull the grill off, what I see is a plastic spiderman-gone-rubic's-cube-style plastic 'webing' covering the front of the speaker's cone-area - on one side, one of them little 'web's' is broken ...(hmmm either a contributing factor, or i did it when i pulled the grill...)
so now im listing to the wonderful strains of Morcheeba in pure unadulterated clarity but man!!! some songs are like ZONE-Flattening me with the amount of Bass and air pushing into the cabin from the, well lets face it, their quite powerful (even if they are crap) speakers) --> man, im gonna work a filling loose if i keep this up
(and Im only listening to Seal at this point (haha, no 'cabin-boi bom, chi-bom, chi-bom-bom-BOM, for me)
so...
anyone got some wisdom to share on the whole front speaker mounting and grill covering saga?
should I just glue back the little broken 'web's' - re-turn and try to tension the grills, return the logo and add some silcone sealant? (pointers welcome on re-tentioning the grill , or that whole area...)
I can see the metal grill now actually having some merit, both to protect them little plastic-web'd sections (or Lattice -supports for those who preferred Superman to Spiderman...)
- and also unify, or otherwise, make constant the power emitting from the air-moving speakers....Comments?
Appreciated ,

Insert some weather stripping foam, silicon sealant, or other damping material in between the remainder of the plasic which contacts, or comes close to, the metal speaker grill- this will prevent the relatively flexible speaker grill from vibrating against the remnants of the plastic spider.
The BOSE Emblem- it is a lapel pin, literally, meaning the barb goes into a metal backing piece (there's a little foam washer to prevent vibration). Make sure that this didn't fall into your speaker assembly, it could be rattling around in there making noise too.
