radio problem

My radio head unit (CD player) with GM 12 disk CD changer stopped "seeing" the changer, as the disk cartridge would also not come out of the changer I replaced the changer and the radio still does not 'see" the changer, anyone have any ideas? The car is a 98 coupe with the orginal radio, or is it time to bite the bullet and install a real audio system?

check the audio section first.

I've had this happen once or twice and come to find out there were some loose wires going to the unit. Hope this helps.

Check the connections in the passanger foot well.

The connection in the trunk can also come loose if the changer has been hit, moved, jerked around, etc..
