C5 vs Porsche 914

Put a small cam larger 44mm delorto carbs and do some tuning and you have a very fast toy
Here is a website on the 944 I found and from reading some of the info., got a kick out of the highlights. Might check on if she has any of these problems. If so. Piece of cake.
944 Info. On Buying>
"Overheating? always ask for a test drive 944s do have a habit of blowing head gaskets! before you set off on your test drive check the oil cap for traces of water sludge also any oil leaks around the head block should be a cause of concern! also check the radiator for any signs of repair or damage.
Once you have test driven the car Let the engine Idle and keep a eye on the tempature gauge, If the fan kicks in around the half to just under the 3/4 mark then this is acceptable over the 3/4 mark then start to worry? Ok it may only be a faulty coolant thermostat or sensor but normally these last for years so ask the question when were they last replaced?
Some owners wire up the fan to the Ignition so the thing stays on throughout the drive, you may find this common practice especially with older models or when used in hot countrys.
Oil gauge If this is faulty then walk away from the sale In the early days of buying 944s I came across one seller who said the oil gauge was only faulty and their was no need to be concerned I bought the thing and 2 weeks later the block blew faced with a large repair bill I decided It was cheaper to buy another one and keep this one for spares! Lesson learned?
Heres a list of common faults that many second hand buyers can expect to be faulty
Wings rusting
Air conditioning
Window switches worn contacts
Rear hatch brackets
Dashboard cracking
Leaking radiator
Steering rack worn (as the 944 is not fitted with a towing hook some people use the rack to pull the car back from a breakdown?)"
