Default Engine Number

I need to find the engine number for my 2001 for ins. purposes.

Can anyone tell me where it is located on the engine? Hope it is not located in a hard to reach location.

Leland West requires an engine number for all new insurances. Therefore, where can I find this number?

Well I can't believe nobody answered your question! So I went to the manual and it says there is two. Driver's side. 1 Stamped on the backside of the driver's side head nearest the firewall. 2 Just below the driver's side head on the block right near the bell housing. They are either stamped in or on laser cut labels. Let me know if you find them.

Thanks Stock Man,

I also cannot believe it either, and with over 50 people casting their eye's on this thread. But with your welcomed help, I will look tonight and see if I can find these numbers and let you know. Sounds like they are not going to be easy.

Engine is so tight around the rear firewall that I was not able to see or feel around the rear head area.

Also, I believe in order to see the right side of the block near the bell housing I would need to drop the engine.

Perhaps someone in this forum was able to find their engine number and can give information on how to go about it?
