I know this has been asked before but I could not find anything on it. For anyone who has installed the lower rear blackout, how difficult was the install? does anyone have a write-up or pictures on how it was done. I am a very do-it-yourself person and want to attempt it myself, I have put tint on a sunroof before and believe that I can do this but need a little help. I tried calling some local shops and they all want $75 or more to do it and I can't see paying this if it can be done by me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
From what I've read here, you'll want another pair of hands to help with this. Rumor has it that it's NOT a fun & quick install. Should take 2-4 hours to get it looking just right.
the time to get it done doesn't really bother me, its just the difficulty of getting it to look good. if I spend enough time on it, can I get it to look good, or is one of those things where you need experience to get it to look good?

I am assuming you are talking about the lower rear fascia? In my opinion, you are better off having a good shop PAINT it than using the vinyl cling stuff. Just my 2 cents.

Many CF members have completed this particular mod, achieving a really striking look to the rear bumper. As food for thought, do check out fellow member "Fiberglassfan" (Pewter C5 with lower indented section of rear bumper painted glossy black). Hopefully, others will notice this thread and post a pic for you!
Did mine myself, roll of electrical tape, trim paint, drop cloth, sand paper. Less than one hour total. $15. Almost 6 months with no problems. (good prep is essential)
Had mine painted. I don,t know how to post pics. The paint looks better up close. I looked at another car with the decal and you can tell it is a sticker. My 2 cents

Even on a black car, a dark gray metallic (semi-gloss) would look very good. Just enough contrast to be seen without being too much.
I agree with the others here. Paint is the overall best way to go. JMHO
