New Column Lock Recall Eligibility?
Just dropped my car off at the dealer to get 4006C done. It turns out that my car had a different 4006 done in August 2004, right before I got the car. The dealer said they thought that the new recall doesn't need to be done on my car, or it would have shown up in the system (and indeed, the 'C' bulletin says that not all cars need it).
I've seen the "pull key, wait 10 seconds" message before, but have never had the column lock up on me, requiring towing.
Thoughts? Should my car receive 4006C anyway? How is GM determining what cars are eligible?
Also, one interesting thing I received was the entire warranty service history of my car, which I'd never seen before. It looks like my car has been towed 4 times under warranty (none under my watch, for the last 13K miles). Is there any way to tell why a car has been towed? i.e. this is GM Roadside Assistance - will they tow your car under warranty for flat tires, etc? If so, that's news to me!
