clb/gmpp warranty question
I would call my dealer, but remember they are the ones who know nothing about the February recall.
That's a good question. I have had mine installed for most of the 2+ years that I've owned my car, and had it in for warranty work, three times, without this particular Chevy dealer ever saying a word.
In fact, I got into an argument with the service writer on one of these occasions when I had it in for the rear differential leak, and they insisted on doing the column lock recall. I said thanks, but no thanks, because I have a CLB installed. He said that they had to do it because it was a safety issue. I said I did not want my dash touched. So we arrived at a compromise whereby they re-programmed the computer (to shut off fuel flow if a "lock" occured), but did not touch my dash (which at that time was just to inpect the locking pin).
I suppose that any given Chevy dealer could take issue with the CLB being installed, but that is a risk I am willing to take. If one dealer refuses to do warranty work because of the CLB, then take it to a different dealer. Or, in an emergency (if no other dealer is available) you could always remove it before bringing it in, and then re-install it afterwards, since it is a very simple install.
I'd be interested to know if anyone else on here has had any issues with a dealer not performing warranty work because of a CLB.
