Default Wheel Colors.....

Ok, so, yes I am at home sick from work today, so I DO have too much time on my hands.

I have a friend who does powder coating. I just bought the car a week ago and I'm not too fond of the chrome wheels. I'm thinking about powder coating them either a dark gun metal grey or possibly black. I think I'd rather grey. I'm no photoshop wizard, but here are some pics of what it may look like. Any votes?

The first pic is the way they are now, the next two are obviously photoshopped.

I'm not sure that you can powdercoat chrome...... Are you sure they are chrome?

IMHO, I'd leave them just the way the are...i think they look awsome against the spiral grey

I am partial to the chrome wheels myself, but since its your vette, and you asked, I'd go with the gray powder coat over the black.

The wheels are probably polished, not chrome. To answer your other question, I prefer the matte grey. Good luck!

Personally I like the black look on the grey. But thats just me. I got black and red wheels on my black 02 coupe. So I am kinda partial.

Good luck with whatever style you decide to go with

These are chrome plated and the finish is peeling/pitting. Had they been polished, my Mothers Ball would have acomplished wonders. Sandblasting will work wonders to prep the wheels.

The chrome looks like hell upclose. Not a very good plating job...hence the desire to move on to a more custom look. We are not very partial to flash anyhoo...

Tracy likes the grey, I think black looks killer on this color. Besides, I want the gun metal grey finish on the Impala.

Id go with a really dark gunmetal grey.

Your photo chop really needs some refinement

Do yourself a BIG favor and don't powdercoat the chrome ones. Go buy a set of thin spoke painted (or whatever style you want) and powdercoat them. Sell the chrome ones to recoup your costs or stash them in the attic...

personally, on a pewter car, if it were me, id sell the chrome ones and buy some magnesium rims, can usually find someone sellin some in the parts section...pewter w/magnesim rims is friggn sweet. but, back to your question, i think the gray looks better than the black.

I have black wheels on my pewter vette. If photobucket wasn't down right now, I'd post a pic. I think black on pewter is the best look.

Could you post a pic when it's back up? I've been trying to use photobucket too...

Swany00 has a beautiful set of polished wheels with a 'black chrome' powdercoat. His are on a black vert I think, but bet it would look great on your car too.
