Ok, so, yes I am at home sick from work today, so I DO have too much time on my hands.
I have a friend who does powder coating. I just bought the car a week ago and I'm not too fond of the chrome wheels. I'm thinking about powder coating them either a dark gun metal grey or possibly black. I think I'd rather grey. I'm no photoshop wizard, but here are some pics of what it may look like. Any votes?
The first pic is the way they are now, the next two are obviously photoshopped.
These are chrome plated and the finish is peeling/pitting. Had they been polished, my Mothers Ball would have acomplished wonders. Sandblasting will work wonders to prep the wheels.
The chrome looks like hell upclose. Not a very good plating job...hence the desire to move on to a more custom look. We are not very partial to flash anyhoo...
Tracy likes the grey, I think black looks killer on this color. Besides, I want the gun metal grey finish on the Impala.
Do yourself a BIG favor and don't powdercoat the chrome ones. Go buy a set of thin spoke painted (or whatever style you want) and powdercoat them. Sell the chrome ones to recoup your costs or stash them in the attic...

personally, on a pewter car, if it were me, id sell the chrome ones and buy some magnesium rims, can usually find someone sellin some in the parts section...pewter w/magnesim rims is friggn sweet. but, back to your question, i think the gray looks better than the black.
Swany00 has a beautiful set of polished wheels with a 'black chrome' powdercoat. His are on a black vert I think, but bet it would look great on your car too.
