Default owned a few

Have a 2000 vert and love it. Had 2 73 and 1 74 and 1 75 and 1 77 along time ago. The inside was hot all the time. Had to run air or have top down on the vert to be happy. Have a 92 vert that was great until I rode in a c5. Sold 92 and found 2000 vert in fall of 2002 a doctor trade in on a 2003. It had 5800 miles on it. It now has 12,200. Love the car.

I sold my '93 AE MN6 for an '03 AE MN6. Loved the C4 and had not even driven a C5 until I picked mine up from the dealer. What a huge difference. I do miss the C4 seats and the clamshell hood. Other than that, the C5 is a huge improvement. I had the opportunity of taking a new '06 coupe w/auto 6 speed from Utah to San Diego for my son-in-law. Awesome car. Not the radical difference as the C4 to C5, but a nice improvement and a blast to drive. Probably keep my '03 for a while longer.

re cheap interior n leather
true enough i suppose but consider for a moment two cool things

1. its not an exotic-car with a zillion dollar tag -so its fair not to 'expect' leather 'everywhere'

2. the black dash is miles better than the c6 - and in keeping with the nimble rice burners and other 'evolved' sports cars of the late 90's such as the Rx7, S2000, Audi Quattro, TT, or even BMWs

i like that they gave it a decent dash and AWESOME instrument cluster - and spend the $$$ on the frame, shape, engine, handling

afterall thats waht VetteEssentials is for

id rather spend 20K on them with a powerfull in every other way corvette, than be upgrading mediocre engine, wheels, suspension, and interior all at the same time...

I had a C4(95) and loved the car but once you drive a C5 its like night and day. Driving the 95 with the roof off was not nice since you'd think the car would rip apart going over bumps. I love my 99 more than the 95 but the C4 was nice and is part of vette history!!

I haven't driven a c6 but I hear they are even better.
Yes, they are. I had a '93 coupe. My reaction on my first C6 test drive was very similar to my reaction when I drove my first C5 out of the Museum parking lot: WOW!

We have had three C5's. I will have a C6 - SOON.

GM obviously gave the C6 a PG-14 rating as it just doesn't have the lines that make our cars what they are to us and to other admirers.

JMHO
EXACTLY why I bought mine. I fell in love with these in 97 when I first laid eyes upon em at the LA auto show. The C5 is a TIMELESS car, the look will last many many years. Vettes' may come along that are faster, better handling or whatever but these like the C2s and C3s will be popular for a long long time.

Exactly!! I love them all. Drive the C5 as a DD, drive the C6 on occasion and drive the C4 for fun!

All true, with two exceptions:
Seats are much more confortable in the C4 and hold you in better than even the sport seats in the C5.
Steering in the C4 was much more sensitive and quick.

Those were the key critiques when the C5 was introduced, and having owned each, I agree. Not that the C5 is bad; just that the C4 is better in those two areas.

That said, love my C5 for everything else.

i have driven in and ridden in several C4s, and while i like them a lot the C5 blew me away back in 97 and im glad i finally got one in 04. My mother still likes the C4 better, and my dad likes the C2 best though they both like my car. I have been tempted by the C6 but if i do get one it will only be when i have paid for the 04.

The day i get rid of my C5 is the day they pry it from my cold dead hands.

I use my c5 for my regular driving, it's easier to enter & exit, smoother, allround better driving car........... but for sheer fun factor I fall into my LT4,it's a whole different ride. It's rough, rattles, leaks and a whole lot of fun
