Having had stock, Hurst and C6 I vote C6. Stock is too loose, Hurst too tight, C6 "just right", at least for my preference. My wife also loves teh C6, hated the Hurst. Is that good or bad???
I've tried the Hurst and the OEM C6 shifters. The Hurst is worlds ahead of anything GM has to offer. The Hurst's shifts are short, quick and precise. There's no way you should miss a shift with the Hurst.

I've had the Hurst in for a few weeks now and wish I had done it the day I bought the car. I really don't understand how people say it is stiff? It is short and precise and doesn't feel like mush as the stocker did. No comparison. I also put the Hurst shift **** ball on it, and this may be why I don't think it is stiff or hard to shift. It offers the perfect leverage IMO to shift the Hurst. Used the lightest springs, and no synthetic in the transmission.
BPP: This shifter is the only one that is adjustable 16 different ways for a perfect fit. After all, we don't ALL have the same length arms and shoulders.
I went and stayed with Hurst....and T-Shifter to lighten the throw...
...so how does the boot look over that contraption...?
I started out cutting the stock shifter in mine and liked it much better. Then I heard many good reviews on the new B&M shifter that was supposed to be as quiet as the stock but with short throws. I installed this shifter (model 45044 I think) and love it. I've heard of so many issues with vibrations of some of the aftermarket shifters I really didn't want the hassle of trying all the things some do to get it to be quiet. I can't comment on all the others, but I do know this is one nice shifter.
is the c6 and c6z shifter different? Any difference at all?
They have different part numbers and the C6Z shifter is cheaper than the regular C6. I've "heard" of a 35% reduction in travel with the Z shifter. I recently bought one (C6Z) shifter from Fred Beans, but haven't gotten around to installing it. Anything has to be an improvement over the stock C5 shifter!

Installed the Hurst about 8 months ago. Was really stiff when installed but really loosened up over time.
Wife's dd and she hated it initially. She's 53, not a spring chicken (hope she's not listening............) and she got used to it and now really likes it.
Got stock springs on it. Never miss a shift. Just like the Hurst of 40 years ago.
