Forget the original post..this is what I need to know, sorry if it's a dumb question:
Is the message the SAME thing as any other vehicle's check engine light. Is that the vette's version?
Not to be a smart a$$......It means just what it says. If your not throwing any trouble codes, or getting any other warnings, you're due for service soon.

Well, sorry..but I just bought the car a week ago. So, I'm used to cars showing a check engine light when something is wrong, I didn't know if the car had a brain to say it was supposed to have a service done around 48000miles or not though.

I can't completely agree with your assessment. These cars are heavily dependant upon on the computers and their sensors and will set a code for a number of things. As an example, having the gas cap not seated properly will set off the check engine light. This light is a catch all for problems. Many have to do with the air system. Some will require a trip to the dealer, some will not.
and following the directions on the page. Post back here what you find for codes on from the DIC. Write down the letters and numbers that are returned and post them here. We can give you a much better idea of what's going on with your car. To answer your other question, there is no service due on these cars at 48,000 miles so that is not the cause of your light.
Ok. Will do. Now, after I hit the reset button, if there truly is a problem, how soon will that message come back up? If it doesn't re-appear then what? Nothing?

I'm not going to disagree with you. However the original post said nothing of throwing codes or the "check engine gauges" being on.

To answer this question.....not really. The Corvette also has a "check engine light" It can display Service Engine Soon on the DIC. There should be codes behind it per the original reply I made but even in this case a faulty battery or ground can bring about the Service Engine Soon light.

It would likely repeat during the next sensor communications for that section of the cars electronics. This could be during the same start cycle or could be after the next time you turn off and back on again. If it doesn't come back up, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The car can hiccup just like any other mechanical system when things get out of sync for a second.
