I am looking for a navigation system and to replace the head unit in my 99 vert. The CD changer is acting funny and the reception sucks (prob antrenna).
Has anyone been able to fit a double-din unit in the C5 dash? I know it's only a din.5 opening but the best units/look are double din. A dash bezel mod is fine with me.
The Pioneer AVIC-Z1 is awesome, 30 gig HD w/10 gig for music! Voice, etc.... wish I could get it to fit. Otherwise, it looks like the AVN 7000 - from Eclipse is close in features (20 g drive) without the 10g for music, one of my favorite features. I have 6 gig of music in a PC. I was told today to look at the new Kenwood unit coming out with an HD - these are the only three I have heard of so far that included Hard Drives.
So it's only the bezel that needs mod? The remaining dash stuff around/behindf has room for it? That's great! Will search for C5Kidd and send him a note tonight!

And do check out the Audio/Elec section. There are some amazing double din installations described there. Even several car-pcs.
Right there with you... sure would like to add one of those to mine.

Nope .
There are 2 metal separator bars in between the radio and the A/c unit that will need to be removed , 4 rivets to drill out .
then the radio will fit in , and the A/c unit can be moved down .
that is if you are using the complete mod of the bezel and deleting the ashtray . That's what I did .
Some forum members have just trimmed or cut the dividing bar to fit the , maybe they will chime in on how that was done.
thanks for chiming in... Looks great! Have any closer picts?
What's in the ash tray area? Looks like the climate control is in the same position... that's moved down? I guess it does look like it's moved a bit. Guess I could make a spot to hold/charge a cellphone in the ash tray area.. quit smoking 4 months ago after 35 years of it.
Where did you get those insert letters in the dash pad? I have the ss ones on the back but those look cool. are they ss also?
As far as getting the equipment, I sell software to audio and cellular dealers so that's no problem. Most are out of my local state though. "SoftSell"
