Default Road Trip Protection

I am going to be going on a road trip for Toledo, Ohio to Lexington, Kentucky. I was thinking about putting clear packaging tape on the front bumper and the rear bumper behind the wheels for protection. Will I have any issues when I remove the tape when I get there with the paint or leaving residue or anything do you think? Or do you recommend putting anything else for protection, I do not want to buy a bra or anything expensive. Looking for some cheap easy temporary protection. Thanks.

This is what I did, and it worked great.

Go to a sign company and purchase some clear static cling vinyl. Cut the shapes you want and attach with a spray bottle of water.

Lasted for 2300 miles on the road. No more, gravel pit marks.

There is a product on the market (soon to be a forum vendor) that you apply like wax. It makes a plastic film which will protect from bugs and small rocks. When it gets enough bugs on it you wash it off with water. You can get it at certain Ace hardware stores and a member of the Baton Rouge Corvette Club also sells it. It is about 12 bucks a bottle and will do a Vette several times depending how thick you apply it. The name of the product is Diamondite. The same guy that invented Bengal roach spray came up with this stuff. I have it on the front of my wife's Vibe and the places that get sandblasted on my Vette. Wheelwells etc. etc. Jimmy
