Hi guys I recently bought an 01 C5 and it had the hud option. Then I found an 01 Z and traded mine in immediatly. The only thing is that it does not have the hud option. I think I have seen a post about this but was wondering if you can put one in a car that didnt have the option. And is it really expensive???

Your '01 doesn't have HUD because it wasn't an option on them the first year. But folks have added HUD with no problems.
Seems to me the parts are NOT expensive (under $500 maybe?), and the install is said to not be difficult, either. Some folks don't like the idea of cutting a hole in the top of their dash, but, again, it's apparently not difficult to do.
I've never had HUD, so I'm not going to bother with the install. But you should expect good results with the install.

Thanks for the information. At least I can install one if I decide to do it.
Do it...you will not regret it. I installed on in my 01 in just a few hours on a weekend. It's a little scary taking the interior apart on a car you just paid a pretty penny for, but if you take your time and follow the very detailed instructions that can be found on this forum, you shouldn't have any troubles.
