Default Great Road Car

Had to make a short notice drive from SC to NY Saturday, for a family funeral. Took the Vette - what a great drive. Even spending 16 hours in the car on Saturday (lots of traffic around DC) , felt great when I arrived at 11 PM.

Put a total of 1800 miles on the car Saturday through Tuesday. This included some driving in NYC. Still managed 29.5 MPG (it's an A4).

Still planning on getting non-runflats when I need to replace the OEM tires, but it was comforting having the Goodyear EMT's while driving through the Bronx at 10 PM on a Saturday.

My C5 is the most comfortable car I've ever had ... period. Not to mention that it's fun to drive and responsive to the "go" pedal.

My wife and I took a 5500 mi trip in my 02 vert last summer and it was amazing how comfortable it was. I'll put it up against any "luxury" boat out there for fatigue factor, etc.

It is one of the best if not the best Corvette I've owned. Took a trip from Bay Area CA to MS and back. The car never tired me out or did the car get tired and it's a '97..I'm ready to go on another road trip

I agree with you on the C5 being an AWESOME road car. I drove mine from Seattle to Charleston last Summer and loved it, even my father loved the ride.

Sounds like a great drive although running through DC and NYC would be a bit challenging.

Glad you enjoyed the ride. My wife and I tour.
Not to hijack your thread, but does anyone else wish the seat bottoms were longer? I'm 6'1" and would like more support under my legs. That is not to say that I don't love my vette. I DO!

Great road car for sure... but not the most comfortable I've owned, or own for that matter. Not even close. The wife's E350 is a lot more comfortable to drive long distances. And it actually very capable handling wise (read: fun to drive).

But my choice for a long drive remains the vette. Comfort isn't everything... I always enjoy the trip much more in the vette!

I drove my car from Chicago to Phoenix in two and a half days - almost 2K miles, my wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Last November, I drove the car from Phoenix to Vegas, and again - had a great time and very comfortable.

You're right - great road car....
