Default odd shifting or trans problem - need help

My 03 Z has about 12K on it, and has not been raced or abused.

Driving normally the other day it started feeling like there was something in the way for 2nd, 4th and 6th. Not something hard, more like it's up against something that gives. I pulled the trim around the hurst shifter and pulled the extra noise stuffing from around it and maybe made it a little better. It almost seems like there's not enough travel and the shifter is pushing something out of the way. It's not constant, seems to be more noticable now and then.

Has anyone ever adjusted the whole shifter mechanism relative to the tunnel, to move the shift handle angle? Thinking it may be in the shifter itself...

Is there any reason why that adjustment (the housing is slotted) would need to be readjusted? something wears or gives...

Is there anything in the torque tube, or around the other end of the shift rod that might be out of place and coming into contact with the mechanism?

thanks,
mike

Well I just saw everything apart on mine... trans was rebuilt under warranty with upgraded parts from RPM transmissions.

The shifter housing bolts to the torque tube and the linkage is fixed.... there's no adjustment and it's a very solid connection. It's a fat black bar that goes from the shifter to the trans.

FWIW these cars are always a bit clunky... mine feels very good now, but not like other cars designed for less power.

If you have the shift stops in your Hurst make sure it hasn't come loose and rotated in and preventing the shifter from fully engange in 2 4 6.

If you feel like your transmission is giving you any problems like a little grinding going into gear. Take it in and let GM rebuild it with new parts. I have recently learned that this is a Very COMMON issue. Especially if it is still under warrenty.

no grinding going into gears. I just bought the GMPP for issues like these, but at this point I don't think it's in the tranny, more the shifter.

thanks for the input...
