Default C5 HID Upgrade

Quite simply the best performing headlight available for your C5. The Xenon HID technology provides over two times the amount of light and is completely street legal and DOT compliant. Kit includes two headlamp units that easily replace your existing OEM headlamps. These headlights use your existing vehicle wiring connections. In addition, this product will use projector technology as opposed to reflector technology in the majority of applications. This allows for a tighter beam pattern and sharper cut-off.

The same projector module is tooled into multiple applications and is tested for SAE and DOT compliancy before and after final tooling. Two types of projectors are used depending on what is being upgraded. In an application where the existing low beam and high beam are separate light sources, the low beam is replaced by an HID low beam and the high beam is replaced by a new halogen high beam as per DOT specifications. In the situation where the high beam and low beam all come from a single source (2 headlamp system or motorcycle), a bi-xenon HID light source is used. This system uses a patented bulb shield which enables the HID light source to be used for both low beam and high beam. The HID components used in this system are made by Philips.

This kit will include the following:

Left and Right headlight assemblies
Complete wiring package as illustrated
Mounting Hardware
Instruction manual
DOT Certificate
Packages available with black or chrome housing!

HID-XD3031C 1997-04 Corvette Xenon HID Headlight package - chrome housing $999.99

HID-XD3031B 1997-04 Corvette Xenon HID Headlight package - black housing $999.99

Orders can be placed online or by calling 1-877-482-9763.

Have a good day!

Chrome Housing vs black housing. What exactly are the black or chrome parts? Do you have a picture of each?

Edit: I take it the picture above is the chrome? Surround inside the headlight assembly?

Question, does this mean that the high beam uses a halogen bulb and is not a HID unit? More information on these would be appreciated.

I should have more pictures of these in the next few days. ...

The high beams use Halogen bulbs. The "background" around the lamps is what is either black or chrome. I'll see if the housing is available seperate but I don't think they will be.

I only throught one reply was needed for the question that you kept asking.

My reply from Saturday was -

I'll see if the housing is available seperate but I don't think they will be.
I'll even reply in French for you -

Je verrai si le logement est seperate disponible mais je ne pense pas qu'ils seront.

So is this the same kit that NOT-MEE is selling or is it different?

That depends who you talk to. He's posted in my threads about this kit (something that shouldn't be done), said that I stole pictures from his site (didn't even know it existed until he started his posts/e-mails) and also said that I was lying (no reason to). Really defensive for some reason.

I read what he wrote in another thread this morning and also had others in the HID field compare what he is advertising to what we sell. They say the kits are the same. NOT-MEE says that he spends hours making changes to these to make them better and Vette specific. The package that we sell is Vette specfic. It is also D.O.T. compliant. That means it has a D.O.T. Certificate. It has been tested and certified compliant with US Federal and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108. This means -

There are many unsafe, illegal and noncompliant products on the market, mainly consisting of an HID ballast and bulb for "retrofitting" into a halogen headlamp. Halogen headlamps and HID headlamps require very different optics to produce a safe and compliant beam pattern. HID headlamps also require careful weatherproofing and electrical shielding because of the high voltages involved.

These unsafe "retrofits" make it physically possible to insert an HID bulb where a halogen bulb belongs, but this practice is illegal and dangerous, regardless of claims by these marketers that their systems are "beam pattern corrected" or the fraudulent use of established brand names to try to trick you into thinking the product is legitimate. In order to work correctly and safely, HID headlamps must be designed from the start as HID headlamps.

ACA (the manufacturer of the package that we and the "other vendor" sells) has developed a range of HID headlamp systems tested and certified to comply with US Federal and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108. They do not produce a "retrofit" kit. Their system upgrades the complete headlamp system on your vehicle. You can drive with new confidence at night knowing that your ACA HID headlamps comply with all US Federal and Canadian standards and give you maximum visibility of everything you need to see, without glare or backdazzle that could endanger roadway safety.

Any changes to the kit will void this. So, if another vendor is altering the kit then it is no longer be to the specs that the D.O.T. approved. They won't like that!

If there is a problem that needs to be handled under warranty the manufacturer will take care of that for up to 3 years. They won't warranty a product that has been modified.

So, I guess in the end you can be the judge. I'm waiting for one more call to come in to continue a little investigation into the other lights. I just posted the product info and was done but another vendor isn't being to friendly about this so I guess I'm going to get pretty aggressive with these now.

Oh yeah, for the people that asked if the housing is available seperate. The answer to that is no. Altering the origional configuration of this package isn't allowed so the parts aren't available seperate.
