I got (2) different quotes from Summit (MBPI warranty) for $1546 for a 36mo/36K Gold package ($50 deduct) for my '01. It has ~38,800 miles.
I went ahead and purchased this about a week or so ago, and now they call me back and tell me that quote was for a Cavalier, and my "real" price would be $3,700? Every time I called, that was for a Cavalier? I bought the Platinum package for my wife's Grand Prix GTP for $1,600 (48 mo/100K/$0 deduct). The guy kept saying he would call me back and see what he can do, but he never has, and it seems he is blowing me off. I am really very upset at those guys and I need help...
Warranty Direct is $2600 for a 37/37 ($0 deduct) which is what I want. They say their prices are not negotiable. This is much more than what I want to pay.
Who else has good prices and good service? It is too late to renew my GMPP I believe.
All PM's are welcome...
Thanks.
Ryan

Check with your local Chevy or GM Dealerships. I paid around $1k and got a 4yr/32k mile GMPP Major Guard $0 Deductible Warranty for my 02 Z06 when it had 13k miles a year ago. Used it once to fix my busted ABS ECM that would've been insanely expensive to fix at a service dept. Manufacturor Warranties are always less hassle. Good luck!

It's been posted in so many threads already... GMPP is only available if your car is still within the warranty period. His car clearly is not, therefore, he is not eligible to get a GM warranty.
I know AAA offers extended warranties.

My car was out of warranty as well. I took it to a GM dealership, had them inspect it, and they sold me a GMPP.
The OP should shop around to his local GM dealerships. He might find one that will be willing to do that.
However! The dealership did show me that once the car is more than a couple of years old the price jumps considerably. The GMPP will probably be in the same price range as his other quotes.

Not true. I bought a 99 from one dealer who offered me the GMPP major guard, which I did not take at the time. Several months later more than one GM Dealer told me that if I had my 99 inspected at their dealership, they would sell me the GMPP major guard. So I paid $150 for a dealer inspection and bough the major guard on my 99 vert with 24K miles for $1300. Don't let people on the forum convince you it's not true. I have the warranty to prove it. Then before it runs out, I'm checking with Dennis, our supporting vendor to buy from him...he's cheaper.

I bought my 99 coupe well out of warranty from a dealer who then offered me a GMPP plan on it.

I was just re-stating what Dennis Fichtner has posted dozens of times.
If it is available, he doesn't know about it.
I ended up paying aproxx 1,800 dollars for a 4 year, 40,000 mile extended policy. It is a 0 deductable policy underwritten by the local chevy dealer here. Only requirement is that if I'm within 40 miles when a problem occurs, I have to take the car to the issuing dealer. My car is a 04 coupe with 16,000 miles but the warranty ends this Oct.
If it were me, I would go shopping at various dealers, because I believe there is a very large variance in price quotes. I don't blame you for not wanting to pay up around 3,000 for a policy. At those prices, I would go it alone. Good luck!
call the f&i guy at the local stores. tell them you will give them $300 over dlr cost. and pay the inspection at their shop. you will leave at a cost around $1680-$1750 with a $100 deductible. try several gm stores. it does not have to be a chev store. gm is all that matters.
you will end up with a GMPP....................
believe it!!!!!!!!!
have them show you the october 05 issue. dealer cost. not suggested price. DEALER COST!!!!! its a light blue paper back booklet. folds at the top. has all the different gmpp offers. get major gaurd $100 deductible. the best value..
dont ask how i know this stuff...... its top secret
you will get a gmpp. if you dont. pm me the dealers name and number. i will make the call for you.
I got Jason to give me a quote ($2100 for 3 yr/36K/$50). My local dealership matched this, which was only $100 from the original price. They originally quoted me $2500. Jason told me he would have to inspect my car himself (at his dealership) to sell it to me...I am paying for the inspection here for $98.
