Its odd, but someone else must have had this issue before.
The heater works, but after a while it stops pumping heat for the driver's portion of the vents as well as the vents located by the driver door window. But yet, the passenger side pumps out strong heat.
It seems to happen after about 15-30 minutes of driving. If I were making short 10 minute trips, I'd never notice. But extended driving is when it seems to pop up. I am not quite sure, but I think that if I stop the car and let it sit for a while, the heat returns to the driver side.
The car is an '04 and still under warranty. Has anyone else experienced this?
I have a related problem. Every 15 minutes or so, the heater fan will switch to maximum speed for several minutes even though the temperature is stable. It starts to get so hot, I turn off the heater for a while.
I think the problem may be the temperature sensor. When my car started the high fan speed behavior a few days ago I tried rapping on the temperature sensor cover. The fan immediately returned to normal speed. I conclude from this that I may have a loose electrical connection to the temperature sensor or I may have a faulty sensor.
When I installed my CLB about a year ago, I disconnected the temperature sensor during the install. I may not have re-installed the connector firmly.
Try rapping on the temperature sensor the next time your car exhibits this behavior. In case you don't know, the temperature sensor is located just to the left of the key behind the little louvered cover.

...perfect response for a guy like me. Before I finished the sentence I was already wondering where the temperature sensor was. I'll give it shot next time. Makes sense to me.
