I have been reading for a while and took a lot of advise from this forum before buying my 2000 coupe last week-end. Last Corvette I had was back in 1972. Couldn't resist the C5 - to me the most beautiful car in the world.
First washing I found out why the sotherncarparts seals sell so well and put them on this morning - great product.
Next - even though the paint on the car is fantastic, i want a good seal and super finish. Been reading about Zaino and have ordered what I need, including the clay bar. This is where I am a bit concerned. I don't want to introduce swirls or anything that would make the finish less than it is now, but i can feel the little bumps and see the tree sap. I would like some advise about using the clay bar on an already good finish. Any one out there used the clay bar and what kind of results did you get?

Welcome to the Corvette Forum, Steve. My second Corvette was a '71 big block t-top, so I know what you mean about the C5's. Here's a recent thread on the clay bar question, don't know if it's the same one already posted, but give it a try: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...light=clay+bar

Personally i've used claybar a few times <although most won't believe that> It's pretty easy and straight forward to do. I wouldn't be too worried about swirls...also with the Claybar i go in a forward and backward motion. And use lots of soapy water, or detailing spray.
greetings steve..........congrats on getting a c5! there is nothing quite like when you get behind the wheel, turn the key, see the gauges wake up & hear that beautiful music from the back of the car! enjoy the ride! here's a from pennsylvania! bub
Several very knowledgeable people and a few professional detailers hang out in the Car Care Discussion section of the Forum. It's the best place to go fo all your car care questions. Good luck.

welcome, nice to see another white vette join the fourm
Chris used a clay bar? But anyway. You live near EG. If you want to do anything to your car, I'm sure he'd love to help. We just installed new drilled and slotted rotors on mine today.
