Default Bling for brakes with a purpose

Here are the results of about a 3 month experiment with powder coating and polishing. The firepath (steel) part of the rotor is powder coated and the aluminum high hat is polished. We have a similar set on the silver car that are chrome high hats with heavy zinc washing on the steel fire path. The cars are driven almost every weekend during the decent weather months so we can determine what will hold up better. Time will tell.

That looks sharp! You're telling me those hats are high polished, and not chrome?

1)I dont see a silver car!
2)I dont see any powder coating on the fire paths! Any powder coating on the fire path will significantly reduce the frictional coefficient, and could increase the stopping distance by a large number, until the abrasiveness of the pads wear off the powder coating.
I am not bad mouthing your efforts , they look beautiful, but please be careful..
3)The rotors look great sitting there, I know you can polish aluminum to a mirror finish, But Is there any coating on the polished aluminum hats? Raw aluminum when uncoated can pit very easily and is subject to acid rain, road contamination and brake dust impregnation.

here is a picture of my rotors with 50,000 miles on them:

Good observance. The silver car belongs to my wife, Janet (XCLR8TN) & I got in trouble posting in her name so She'll have to post with her chrome blingies.
#2 The powder coating is only in the drill holes, slots and interior vanes.
The powder coating in the actual fire path was machined off.
We had problems with the Eradispeeds rusting down in the vanes. We have driven hundreds of miles in the rain and storms and we are trying to figure out a way to stop rust permanently in those areas.
#3 The continous maintenence on the rotor hats are small items when you consider we have two sets of wheels with bare aluminum high polish innner barrels. They are nice but a substantial PITA!
Thanks a lot for the nice compliments but we will see which system works the best with the least problems and will let everyone know by Carlisle. Stop by and see us.

I had the first set of Eradispeed 2 piece rotors that came into this country... they are on the front of my car and now have over 50,000 miles on them as depicted in the above picture.... My car now has 61,000 miles on it...
The process I use is very labor intensive but does last me 6 onths of summer driving.
Your rotors look great, and suspect very positive results, but again I am concerned about your hats, and the high polish without any protection.. Chrome would be the better choice over raw polished aluminum,. or a hight temp 1200 F clear coating as I have used.

Silver Car
Here are the chrome ones before and during the install. I think the chrome/zinc wash will be low maintenance compared to polish/powdercoat. We will know by Carlisle. I was happy with my brakes the way they were but "Mr Know it all" Busted Knucle couldn't leave well enough alone. He has way too much spare time on his hands in the winter.
