Lowering Problem NEED HELP!!

Default Lowering Problem NEED HELP!!

Member Mqqn and I lowered my 98' coupe on the stock bolts about a month ago. The right rear side is a full inch lower than the left rear side and has been since we did the job. We thought at the time that it just needed to settle. Well, I have since driven it about 200 miles and nothing has changed. The right sits at 28 1/2 inches to the fender well fromt he ground and the left sits at 29 1/2 inches.

Both sides were lowered with exactly the same amount of threads showing. I cannot possibly lower the left side any more. In order to get them to match, I litterally have to expose enough threads equal to about one full inch on the right with only one thread showing on the left. That can't be safe can it? What in the heck should I do or try?

You should be measuring from the frame not the fenders on level ground.

I would put cer on level ground and take measurements where puck holes for lifting are located. After doing that you can either raise or tighten the adjusting nots appropriately.

The fiberglass springs are not perfectly uniform and niether are the body panels.

Just make sure your air pressure is equal on both sides before doing the process.

and check the back bolt bushings to ensure one isn't crushed for some reason

Also be sure that you have all the bushings put back in. For instance... driver side has bottom and top bushings and the passenger side has just top bushings.

Brink,
I would be very interested in hearing what the ride height was before you started lowering.
Also, showing equal amounts of rear threads means nothing and is really not the correct way to lower the car.

I don't think mine was at 29 1/2 before I lowered it.

I honestly don't know what the ride height was before I lowered the car. I never thought this was going to be a problem so of course I never measured the car before hand.

I took the advice and measured the car at the four jacking points. The left front is about a 1/2 inch lower than the right front. I could not seem to adjust it any higher. I was having a lot of trouble without a lift.

I have the rears just about perfect in terms of matching each other. I want to get an alignment but I think I want to try and use a lift to get the fronts near perfect as well.

The stock ride height with factory tires on a C5 w/z51 measuring from the frame is around 5 5/8 on all 4 points.

I had the same problem when I lowered mine, not quite as much difference as yours. But in order to make them the same I had to completed lower one side and slightly raise the other.
