I have run Nittos on my last couple cars but now that I have an 18" rear tire, they're not an option. They don't come in 18".
I went to my local performance tire store and checked out my options. I seen the 18" BFGs but I don't really want that particular tire.
I have an idea and I'm curious if it's a viable option. They offer a set of 17" x 9.5" thin spoke replicas for 200 ea. (or I could look for a used set).
Moving to a 17 on the back would give me a wide range of drag radial options. Nitto, BFG, Hoosier & MT.
Would there be a problem running a 17 in the back? I assume the brake calipers would clear. I'm guessing the offset would be OK but what about the stance? Would it look OK?
Has anyone has done this? If so, could you post a pic so I have an idea what it would look like?
If the 17s are not a good idea, what are people with 18's using for light track duty?
I'm running the Nitto 555R drag radial 305-35-18.... What size is your rear rim?
EDIT: Mickey thompson is coming out with the et streets in 18" wheel size....
I have stock 2002 wheels. I'm guessing 18" x 9.5?
I waited a year for the 275 17 MTs after they were announced. I'll believe the 18s when I actually see them
I believe it is possible to fit the 305's on a stock rear.... They will have one hell of a time mounting them, but I've seen people running the 295's on stock rims (Nitto's run narrow compared to other tires). My guess is they would work....
