I bought a Gentex mirror with compass and HomeLink, I have the wiring for it but it looks like a PIA to run it from the mirror to the fuse box, I noticed the existing wiring has 3 wires like the gentex. I need a continuous power wire, which I know is there because the map lights switch on when the ignition is off, I need a switched power wire that goes on/off with the ignition, and a ground wire. Anyone know if that's the way it is on a 98 coupe? If so I can just splice the Gentex plug on the existing wires.

I don't think there is any switched power at the mirror, at least on the first generation mirrors. Here is a DIY that I used when I upgraded my first gen mirror to an electrochromatic that might be of some assistance.
When I installed my Valentine1 and mounted it to the bottom of the mirror - I picked up switched power from the fuse block in the passenger side footwell. It was really easy to run and conceal the wire. I ran it behind the piece of trim that run along the top of the windshield, down to the passenger side windshield pillar (which just snaps on and off easily), through a hole on the top of the dash that becomes exposed when the trim is removed, down behind the dash into the fuse block. There is are two pig tails that can be picked up - one is one with the ignition only (the one I used) and one is hot all the time.
