Default Cigarette Lighter Connector Question

Hi,
I recently got a new clutch. After that, my cigarette lighter jack no longer worked. I use it for power for my ipod and sometimes my radar detector. I pulled the shift boot up and looked in there and can see a round connector with two wires. I am guessing that this is the 12 volts for the lighter plug. I can't fit my hand up in there to get it back on.

Does anyone know how to pop the lighter receptable out so I can re-attach this?

Thanks

Probably easiest to pull the console out a little and plug the connector back in. You don't have to totally remove it, just pull it back from the dash a few inches, enough to get your hand behind it and plug it back in.

If I recall the dash lighter socket unscrews, but you'll need to hold the bezel from the back side to remove it, which would require pulling the console anyways.

If you've never pulled the console before, it's pretty easy, You can use these instructions, follow them up to step 3e. There is also a good pic of the back of the lighter socket and it's electrical connector on this page.

I know it's pretty easy to do with the center console removed. Follow the directions in the above post/link. It'll only take 15-30 minutes.

Ya, its not really that hard to pull the console. I was bothered with the idea myself until I did it. 4 bolts on the rear portion, and like three torix screws on the radio surround.

That happen to me, no need to pull the console. It just scrws back in.

Disconnect the battery.

Reach in with your finger and line up the plug to the console.

Plug in a charger plug, like your iPod charger.

Lock the charger into the loose cig lighter.

You can feel the loose connector from the side of the ash tray and the edge of the console, try holding it that way if you can't get the plug in.

Turn the charger and catch the screw. The loose piece had threads on it.

Turn it until it gets tight and your all set.

It takes a few mins to get the outlets in a row, but after that it works.

Good luck
