I want to paint my calipers red (this weekend if possible), and want them to match my 01 torch red coupe. I was wondering how I would go about doing this ( what type of paint to buy, and the procedure. if anyone could post up some tips or instructions, or direct me to a thread that covers this I would greatly appreciate it. Also if i can buy the paint locally or if I would need to order it online. thanks alot!
I used the red sold by Duplicolor Paint for Calipers. I think the kit was about $16.00. Their red blends well with torch red..............same as my 2000 FRC. I really can't tell the difference. You can do a search on this website for instructions. I just pulled wheels, unbolted calipers, cleaned and painted. I used a brush that comes in kit to paint them. Temperature should be warm when doing. It really takes about 4 coats to get a nice smooth ceramic finish. I didn't unhook any brake lines to do the job. Hope this helps you.

Did the same thing. I didn't use a clear coat on mine.

WalMart, Autozone, O'reily, all have the kits.. I'd buy some cheap 1 inch paint brushes as the one that comes with it is pretty cheezy. Some masking tape, and about an hour of your time and your good! Slop it on thick too - really makes it look nice.
You can paint over "Corvette" then come back with razor blade, then a sanding block to shine up the letters.. some use chapstick or vaseline to cover the letters. The razor blade and sanding block are tried and true.

I used Plasticote brake caliper paint. Cleaned everything with Brakleen, masked the area, and applied 5 light coats. No primer needed. Sanded over the letters with fine grit on a block when done. I did these about 3 years ago. They still look like the day I did them. http://www.stevelundell.com/db2/00160/stevelundell.com/_uimages/cal0004.jpg[/IMG] http://www.stevelundell.com/db2/00160/stevelundell.com/_uimages/vette0010.jpg[/IMG]]

with the above. One of the keys to having the job turn out great is to really get the calipers clean before applying the paint. I used several cans of spray on brake cleaner at first, then followed up with some fine steel wool and went back over the calipers with some more brake cleaner. That gave the paint a good surface to stick to.
I used Folia Tec paint on mine (rather expensive), but the Duplicolor or even Rustoleum paints will do the job. Good luck.
