Searched the Forum for HUD but could not find anything on this issue.
Pulled the battery to try to reset an issue with the AC vents not working properly. Left the battery out for about 30 mins. Put together and went for a drive. The regular guages read fine. I filled the fuel up and read full in the analog guage, but the HUD read aprox 3/4. There is also the oil can in the hud, but I have normal pressure in the analog and the digital in the DIC. Hud was reading fine before hand. I have no DIC error codes appearing and no check engine warnings or light.
Try pressing and holding the "page" button located not with all the other DIC options, but on the driver's left with the HUD dimmer. You will also find that you can select all sorts of cool options with this button (just MPH, just RPM, etc.).

Sounds as if your HUD may have changed pages when you disconnected the battery. Your owner's manual cover's setting of the HUD so you can set it as you like. Good luck.

But don't know why the HUD would show 3/4 tank of gas when the car is full.
When you disconnect your battery or your battery is weak, the HUD goes into a default mode when the car starts up. As TNT (above) suggests, reset the HUD w/ the page button. You should be fine if your battery is good.
