Default 2002 Z Warrany Issues

I just bought an 02Z with 6300 miles on it. GM will not let me purchase a warranty because it is outside of the original warranty period. Will someone please reccomend a reliable warranty provider. Thanks in advance!

I just had Classic and Granbury Chevrolet turn me down. Who did you get the warranty through?

Believe it or not, I got the car from a Subaru/Isuzu dealer who had no idea what he had. He had the car advertised as a "Smooth shifting 5 speed automatic 407 HP Corvette"

Anyways - They obtained the warranty for me. I'm still waiting to get the paperwork in the mail, but he told me it was a GMAC warranty.

When I bought my 02' Z a couple of months ago I was told no third party companies warranted Z06's. I read through a few of the brochures and sure enough the Z06 was listed as a model that would not be covered. It seems like there should be a company out there.

I just emailed my dealer again. I'd like a couple of answers. The price this warranty cost, I want to see what I'm getting.

Definetly get the extended warranty. If that traction control module goes out, that $3K. My 02 went out but it was covered under warranty.

Those are the kinda of things you've got to make sure you've got lined up BEFORE you buy... It's VERY hard to warranty a Z.

I have CNA national, the previous owner got it thru a chevy dealership when he bought it. You could try them.

In order for GMPP to accept you you first have to engage and extended warranty before your original warranty has expired. I am in the process now of doing just that. My warranty ends on the 8th of May, so this week I am purchasing mine.
I am using the following to do so.
FICHTNER CHEVROLET

PLEASE READ

GMPP PRESENTATION LETTER

Hello and thanks for your interest in the GM Protection Plan.

I am pleased that you are allowing us the opportunity to provide this quote and I am hopeful that we can assist you with the purchase of the plan.

Please find below more information on the plan and the application process.

PLEASE NOTE: You are able to purchase the plan at a lower new car price if you have owned your vehicle less than 12 months and have less than 12,000 miles on the odometer.

ALSO: GM increases GMPP prices every 10-1 so this quote is good until 9-30-06 only.

Have a great day!

Dennis Fichtner

Fichtner Chevrolet

Laurel, Mt

406-628-4618, Ext 105

As requested, here is the information and pricing on the General Motors Protection Plan.

About the plan:

As an independent new car dealer, Fichtner Chevrolet is authorized by General Motors to sell the GM Protection Plan. We are offering the plan at a significant discount without sales tax. This amounts to a discount of several hundred dollars off the MSRP of the plan!

Major Guard is a policy of General Motors Corporation. Be very careful of policies written by other companies that may no longer be in business when you need them! There have been hundreds of these companies going broke in the past. In addition, this policy is good at any GM dealership in the U.S. and Canada. The vast majority of dealerships will not honor any policy except those sold by General Motors. The GM Protection plan protects your vehicle and assures that it is repaired to GM standards whenever necessary. Second, the plan is completely transferable to subsequent owners of your vehicle adding to the vehicle’s resale value. The GM Protection Plan comes with a money back guarantee of satisfaction. You get a full refund if you cancel the plan within 60 days of purchase and no claim is filed. After 60 days, your refund is prorated less a small administration fee.

Major Guard provides 24 hour no cash needed towing and roadside assistance. Major Guard will authorize towing or emergency road service for any disablement of your covered vehicle, or will reimburse you up to $50 for these expenses. Benefits include towing, flat tire service, battery jump, out-of-gas fuel delivery and locksmith and key service. Major Guard will pay the charge to rent a replacement vehicle whenever the new vehicle limited warranty or Major Guard covered repairs require 2.0 or more manufacturer’s labor time guide hours to repair.

What does Major Guard Cover?

It’s as simple as this: If it’s not on the very short list of what’s not covered, IT’S COVERED.

WHAT’S NOT COVERED?

Maintenance services and parts, physical damage, glass, lenses, seal beams, light bulbs, and tires. Components not installed by the vehicle manufacturer. Bumpers, sheet metal, body panels and parts. Carpet, hinges, trim, upholstery, convertible tops, molding and bright metal. Air and water leaks, wind noise, odors, weather strips, squeaks, rattles, paint, rust, carburetor, contaminated fuel system, exhaust system, catalytic converter, brake drums and rotors, shock absorbers and batteries.

WHEN CAN I PURCHASE GMPP?

Any time as long as your vehicle is still inside the new vehicle limited warranty, PERIOD. Major Guard time and mileage limits start on the same day as you purchase the plan and from the odometer reading the day you purchase the plan. Again, You may purchase the plan at any time but such coverage must be purchased prior to the end of the new vehicle limited warranty of 36 months or 36,000 miles whichever comes first. It makes sense to return to your selling dealer, but if you find it inconvenient to do so, you may use any commercial repair facility, just refer to the Coverage Agreement for the appropriate phone number to call for authorization prior to repairs being started.

Major Guard can be purchased from any GM dealer. To save big dollars, buy it from me here at Fichtner Chevrolet. Many dealers mark up Major Guard beyond GM Suggested Retail Prices by several hundred dollars. We sell every plan at a discount saving you hundreds of dollars!! Major Guard is honored Nationwide and it doesn’t matter where you buy the plan.

Thanks man, I just got my callback from Jason at Fitchner, and I do not qualify for ANY warranty under the GM umbrella. I am going to have to go with CWS, they will do a full powertrain and electrical warranty for $1100-$1700.
