have been using Shell for a year and pretty happy with it. No Chevron around here like I read about on the forum.
So, Sunday I decide to use Hess's high octange, about $3.02 around here. Been driving the Vette since the weather has been great here ( kind of slow city traffic). So I take a small cruise over to the beach to check on some property and hit both city and highway traffic.
So to make a long story short I check my average MPG, (not the inst. mpg) and find that after a qt. of a tank of gas my MPG now sits at 20.5. Can the difference in the type of gas make a big difference? It's gone up 2.5 in a short period of time, and with highway driving I expect it to go even higher.
Just thought I'd share and see if anyone else has had a similar experience.
i used to use shell for 6 years b/c i had a shell card and i used mobil one day and not only did i get better milage but the car and bike runs a little different so im sticking to mobil for now
I know I'd have to drive more than a 1/4 of a tank out to feel like I was getting an accurate reading. Unless of course you drive exactly the same way all the time.

Have you gotten your certificate yet for contributing to the increased benefit package for the CEO of Exxon/Mobil?
Most of my gas is purchased at a "WaWa" mart/station, occasionally Sunoco, all 93 octane. 21-22MPG surburban-city/29 MPG Hwy, rarely varies. Measured by calculation, not dash reading.
