got my c5 back in feb. and haven't had the opportunity to really stretch its legs yet...for fear of getting caught on the road. does anyone know of any race tracks in or around columbus ohio that i can use for a couple laps? i don't mind paying to use the track.
Try Kentucky Motor Speedway. They have a "Drive the Track" day twice a year where you can run 5 laps at moderate to high speed. They do it once in the spring (April) and once in November. Check out their website for dates. I've been twice in my C5 hitting a top speed of 125 mph on the backstretch. Not to bad for being limited to 85 mph by a pace vehicle!
If you can't wait till November, Come to the Lone Star Classic in Fort Worth the weekend of May 19-21. We'll have around 600 Vettes in attendance. On Friday we have a very challenging autocross designed by a former Corvette race car driver (Ed Cole's son) and on sunday you can drive hot laps on the TMS speedway and give it everything you've got on the infield road course. Big time fun. We have cars come from Florida to California. Not to mention the charities that benefit from the auctions.
You are in the heart of race country. MidOhio is just north of Columbus. Nelson Ledges is northeast. You could go to Putnam Park (Indiana)with NASA in a couple of weeks.
