I've got a '98 Vette with the passenger rear brake dragging I've decided that instead of changing out the caliper with a stock one I'd like to get something better. Previously I owned a '96 Z28 and I put no less than 3 new calipers on the rear wheels, before I succumbed to aftermarket brakes/rotors and whaalaa no more problems! I've already found a couple of good deals on slotted and drilled rotors, but have been unable to find any great info on calipers? Whadda you guys suggest? Pics would be great too
you could just rebuild your stock caliper. Kits are only $10-$15. Unless the body of the caliper has spread, that should fix your problem for another 8 years.
If you're set on an upgrade, your looking at spending several thousand $$ for a big brake kit. Start calling around to the vendors and talking to them about what you're looking to do with the car.
After looking around quite a bit I agree with you, the aftermarket kits are pretty expensive. Does anyone have any rebuild advice? And maybe the best place to get a rebuild kit at?
fredbeans. part number 88955502, rebuild kit for c6. its just under $8, and the same part as the c5, but with a different number. the c5 is around 12.
The rebuild is very easy, anyone can do it. Its self explanatory, but call 1-888-644-7221 or email, mike@thepowdercoater.com if you run into problems or questions.
