Default Ebay buyers beware

Just a quick note to halp you avoid a bad deal. Ebay seller Glennjulia sold me 4 C5 OEM wheels as good condition. When I went to mount up my track tires, I found two of them to be bent. When I say bent, I mean bent. Stevie Wonder would be able to notice them. Obviously forgot to tell me about jumping the curb at 20mph! I would not do business with again. Buyer beware of this seller.

IF you paid via credit card and Paypal, you can file a claim.
file with Paypal, and them call your CC company and tell them you are disputing a charge. Make usre you get back on eBay and print a copy of the item description showing "ASNEw" and then take photos of the damaged goods.

good luck

There are no "good deals" on ebay. Chances are you can get what you're looking for from a reputable dealer for the same price or less. Then, sooner or later, you will get screwed making all your "good deals" more expensive.

Disagree that there are no good deals on ebay. You do have to be careful, check seller's feedback, etc.

I would threaten him with negative feedback unless he gives you an adjusted price so you can get them fixed. I had a similar situation with Z06 wheels I bought: one was slightly bent - not immediately obvious. Cost me about $100 to have it straightened, & the seller refunded me that amount (forum member, btw).

I disagree completely. I've made some insanely cheap purchases on EBAY only to turn around and sell the items for much much more. You do have to check the sellers rating prior to bidding, and ask questions about the item to make sure the seller is even going to get back to you, and that they know the product they're selling. As well, you have to make sure that the product will be cheaper when the shipping is placed into the total. I've bought and sold everything from books and cars to computers and Xbox 360's (sold ALOT of those) on Ebay and have only had one problem (which I'm going to fix soon, small item - corvette clothing vender - not so impressed, details may be coming) , so IMO Ebay after 6 years or so is a fantastic place to get items you can't find in every store, or if you can purchase it in a store, alot of times you'll save 10% - 90% - but it depends on the item, original/BIN price, and time the item is listed.

I've gotten some good golf equipment on Ebay. I've never bought anything for my car though except for my steering wheel decal. As far as Ebay, I would never buy anything that I couldn't afford to eat the money if the deal goes bad.

I'm going to have to go on the "disagree" side with this.

There are good deals to be had, but you have to know what the going price of the item you're buying is.

I keep seeing sellers who are charging full retail + shipping for stuff that I can get from my local Best Buy for the same price, and have a place to return it if it doesn't work or I don't like it.

I see v1.7 V1 radar detectors going for 10% less than you could buy a new one for.

People get caught up in the "I gotta have that one" mentality of eBay and just keep adding $1 to their bid until, before they know it, they're up over retail.

Yeah Ebay sucks! Please every one ban Ebay (it'll make it easier and cheaper to win all my auctions! )

I've bought a lot of nice stuff well worth the money on E-Bay but as someone said, you have to check out the feedback and know what you're buying!

I totally disagree. I've bought plenty of brand new-in-box, name brand items on Ebay. I usually go to a local store where I can check out whatever it is I'm looking for, and "see and feel it", but then always check Ebay before buying. I've saved a ton of money that way, even taking shipping into account. And a lot of the items I've bought have been shipped directly from the manufacturer.

I've never been burned, and never been disappointed, but I've always been very careful. Remember, buyer beware.

Where do you buy all of your accessories for your Corvette? Have you ever ordered from one of the forum's sponsors? Do you ever purchase anything from catalogs?

You really are missing out on an amazing resource by not even considering Ebay as a source for an item you are looking for. I have been buying on Ebay for many years and never been burned. Plenty of legitimate vendors use Ebay to broaden their customer audience. You don't always go to Ebay because you will save money, you go there to find something you want. I was able to pick up the original GM promo brochure for my 2000 corvette, a parts manual and a poster for the 2000 vette, all on Ebay. I shudder to think how painful it would have been to purchase those items from somewhere where I had to see and feel them first.... I would dare say it would have been darn near impossible to do it.

Another good point. I totally agree. I've found things I could have never found anywhere else. I swear you could find the socks you wore yesterday on Ebay.

I'm with you. I'd rather pay the aftermarket companys a 500% (corvette tax) markup.
