Default 2 Hours and $120???

i've called a few shops around here (Lacey/Oly WA) and i keep hearing the installation of my B&B Bullet Exhaust is going to take 2 hours and at least $120!!! Is that normal? I thought DIY only took 2-3 hours because you had to jack up the car (PITA) and cut off the pipes... and the Shop install took like 45 minutes or an hour Tops... (With a good alignment)

Anyone else have any shop install experience?

I don't think you have to cut off anything, it should be just bolts...it is tough to get proper alignment with the bullets though

For what it's worth - a local performance shop near me charges $150, my local garage also quoted $150...so that's about right

Go out buy a jack and jackstands. buy 1 case of beer. and prob a whole lot cheaper

and do it yourself on a saturday or sunday.

The reward will be much greater by doing it yourself then to have some shop do it for you.

The only reason to cut is if you are installing a X-pipe. Other than that, should be bolt-on. Not sure about A4, though.

I live in Spanaway. If you want some help, send me a PM.

Yeah, i don't own any jack stands or floor jacks, nor do i have a garage... lol My car is nicer than my apartment... but worth it... lol

Yeah, with stock heigth i can get a regular floor jack under this thing right, then hack saw the factory exhaust and install? I'm really stoked about it so i wanted it done like Tonight! lol and am willing to pay a little for it. I just wanted to make sure i'm not getting bent over and ... well... yeah...

Using a lift it is a 45 minute job, no cutting involved. My local shop charged me $50.

If you don't want to save your stock exhaust, cut the pipes. You don't have to jack the back as high as you do to get them off in one piece. Remember, don't take the nuts off of the hanger brackets that support the mufflers as you can lose the U-bolt up in the frame box. The mufflers just slide in and out of the hangers.

Had my Stingers installed a couple of months ago by the local exhaust shop. It took them just under 45 minutes and cost about $50.

Just for kicks, I asked the local stealership how much they would charge Their quote was $325 for the 4+ hours it would take them It was really hard to stop laughing as I walked out. The mechanic even tried to justify the time and price by saying he had done lots of these installs in the past so he knew what he was talking about........

I've got a Ti setup on the way... Should be here Friday. I've got an A4, so I'm just going to find someone locally to handle it. Good to see the price ranges, though... Thanks.
