I have a 2002 z with 17000 (almost exclusively street) miles
I developed the fuel sensor problem (where it will randomly drop to "zero" dispite having half a tank.
It was replaced 4 weeks ago under extended warranty
Now the problem has started again
The car runs smoothly and I use techron about every 3kmiles
anybody out there experience this more than once?, is there an upgraded sensor available?
I have the same problems, have had fuel sensors replaced twice i use amoco ultimate and techron. Now i just deal with the problem since GM cant come up with a permanent fix for this problem.
There are two different sensors. One in each tank that have to be replaced. Make sure they replaced both of them.
If they have and you use good clean fuel; there isn't much else to do but deal with it.
I had the problem and got both sensors replaced. Then I switched to using strictly Sunoco and Amoco fuels. The problem has not come back. I also try to only get gas at fairly new gas stations. That way you are somewhat assured the underground tanks are still good and not allowing ground water and other contaminants into an otherwise good/clean fuel supply.
i have the same problem also, sort of just living with it.. in the C5 tech section there is a sticky at the top called electrical problems (long) or something like that. its a really long thread, but a few pages in, someone brings up the problem, and someone said he went in and cleaned up the electrical connectors that connect the sensor to the harness and hasn't had the problem since.
i happen to be an electronic tech, so that solution sounds very feasible to me, no connection means no sensor, means no fuel. when i get some down time, i will try it myself.
