Just received a call from a friend. He ran out of gas in his 03 Z06 and is currently stuck on the side of the road. After adding 4 gals of gas, the car won't start. He opened what appears to be a bleed cap on the fuel rail, but no fuel or pressure felt while turning the engine over. Any suggestions (other than call AAA)?
Well if he ran it dry I'd asusme the pump needs time to re-fill the line. I'm not sure. I've never ran mine out of gas. I did run my aunts vert out, but after adding a few gallons all was well.
My 01 Z06 ran out of gas once. It was on a slight grade, parked nose up.
I added one gallon of gas. Only size can the nearest gas station had. I bounced the rear of the car a few times in a minor attempt to agitate the fuel in the tank. And it fired right up after 5-10 seconds of cranking. I then filled the tank, having learned my lesson.
Don't know the implication of nose-up attitude...worth a try.
It should start up after a few seconds of the fuel flowing back to the motor. Almost sounds like you have a problem, maybe fuel pump. Is your friend sure it ran out of gas? Fuel pump may have died. Just a suggestion.
