Default I need HELP!!!!!!!

I own a 00 MN6 with 68000 miles on it. I purchased it 3 months ago and now 5th gear won t go in at high speeds ( 110+ mph) and reverse just won't go in at all, all I get is a bunch of grinding. Now, during normal street driving 1st through 6th go in just fine but reverse is a no no . I really need help this is my daily driver and I need to get the problem fixed as soon as possible. THANKS!!!

( to top it all off my warranty expired 3 days ago and I didnt get a chance to extend it so I really need some advice)

Gee, I have not gone 110 in my 98 and my trans works fine. This could be the root cause !

A clutch that is too thick can cause this (believe me, I know )

Get the car up on jacks, nice and level. Check the tranny oil level.
Too much is just as bad as too little.

According to the service manual, the fluid should be level with the top oil fill plug.

I had some shift trouble in my '00 MN6 only toi find out I had too much fluid in the tranny.
Now all is fine.

As far as doing 110, I hope this was on a track

Dont worry guys the high speeds were done at a track. As far as I know the clutch is the original and I think its working fine. I'm going to jack it up today and check my fluids , Hopefully its just that. Thanks!!!

So what difference does that make? None!!

Manolo...I go into triple digits every time I take the car out, which is nearly every day, and have zero problems getting into any of the gears...including reverse.

It's good to check the level but with the grinding I would certainly get the synchros checked out...soon.

ps...don't let anyone here try and put you on some kind of guilt trip for going over the posted speed limit Not necessarily the above posters, but there's a boatload of hypocrites on this Forum when it comes to that topic. I define "hypocrite" as anyone who has gone 1+mph over the posted limit anywhere, at anytime, in their lives...and then has the nerve to criticize anyone else.

What! Are you saying corvettes can't go 100 or over with out reliability? That's crap. Sounds to me like you clutch is toast at the minimum, hopefully all your grinding hasn't done any further damage. Be sure to check/change out your trans fluid and look for any metal shavings in the fluid. Good luck!

i didnt know they could go that fast

just kidding

sounds like the sincros to me too
dont know what it would cost to fix..... i have seen the trannys for sale in the for sale section pretty cheap lately. might be cheaper and easier/ less time consumeing to just pick up a good lower mile used one and pop it in there. sell your bad sincro one as a rebuildable one later!!!!

Does it have an aftermarket shifter? If so check the limiters, Syncros usally make noise when they are worn as well.
