For those of you who have a C5, what octane fuel do you burn? Do you or have you ever added an octane additive? What brand do you use? Do any of you use Ethanol blends?
If I could find some 93 in Arizona I would use it but I buy Chevron 91 Octane. A word of caution, or so I was told by my GM dealer, I used to use 104 Octane Booster on a fairy regular basis, say evry other tank. It recently started to idle rough which turned into a light miss. We found it needed a set of plugs, My 01 only has 26,000 miles on it. Dealer said that prolonged use, or leaving it in the tank too long before it is used up will eat a set of plugs. I know, I know, stealerships, but my guys do take care of me and the rough idel and miss are gone, and yes they gave me the plugs. Do what ever trips your trigger, but I would just buy good gas, keep the intake system clean, and avoid any in the can additives. At least that is my .02 cents. Have a good one!!
I buy Premium 91 Octane and always try to get it from a dealer that markets "Top Tier" gasoline. BP, Shell, and Quik Trip in our part of the world. A couple times a year, I'll run a bottle of Techron thru the fuel system just before changing the oil...cleans up any deposits that may have built up. So far...so good!
Won't work in a Vette. Since you burn more Ethanol to get the same amount of energy as you would from gas you need different components that will deliver a higher flow rate. Those certified for Ethanol has larger fuel pumps, larger injectors, and sensors to tell the computer what % of ethanol you are using so that the computer can adjust the flow as needed.

This is true if you burn something like that has a higher percentage of ethanol in it. Here in Missouri most of the stations have a 10% ethanol blend available - I've run it in mine and it does just fine. No decrease in gas mileage and the car's performance has remained good.
