Ran into a guy last night who had a 50th ann. leather jacket on & I started talking with him.He said he had a 50th ann. or 2003 C5 that he ordered in pewter! I told him when I ordered my '03 C5 A/4 the 3:15 gear was deleated. To top the pewter story,he said he had his '03 C5 A/4 that he got with a 3:42,ordered from the factory !Either this older fellow did'nt know what he was talking about & did'nt have a C5 (just liked to wear the jacket) ,or had an older C5 that he put 50th stickers on?
To my knowledge 1st;the pewter color was replaced by MSG in '03;2nd you could in no way get a 3:42 in an A4 C5 from the factory, like he said.I did'nt expect this BS from a dude in prob. late 50s or early 60's!Some people are so full of .Thats why I like this Forum ,the vast majority are very knowledgable. No doubt he was not a forum member.
Must have been the same guy that I ran into at the Birthday Bash...He said that he had worked at the factory for over 20 years and he could get anything he wanted...Stated that he had a '00 ZR1..only made 18 that year and he had one... . Anyway what ever makes his boat float.....People are so funny sometimes.
Maybe he was like this guy that got all "emblem" happy. At least this guy admitted his car was an '00....
BTW, the gentleman probably got confused because his car has the 50th C5 flags that all '03s have and he may of had the connections at GM to build an A4 with 3.42 gears. You never can tell, if so his car is definately a one of a kind like this one at Kerbecks:
2003 Corvette Coupe - Going for the Gold Special Edt. 1 of 1 built
with special gold paint, stripes, body enhancements and
autographed by Dave Hill Corvette Chief Engineer, Will Cooksey
Plant Manager, and the Corvette Production Team in Bowling Green, KY.
Hey I think I am that guy, I have an A4 with 3.42's just recently installed.......oh wait I have an 03 Quicksilver plus a C6 jacket even though I have a C5 never mind.............

I talked to a local Vette owner (65+ yrs old) last year. He just had to tell me how his stock '03 vert cost over $65,000. All I could think is what a sucker he was if he really paid that.
Sounds like BS but there have been "special" Vettes built by the factory. In an issue of Vette Magazine, one of the featured rides was a 1996 LT4 Collectors Edition built with an automatic! As most people know the LT4 was supposed to be equiped only with a 6 speed manual. With enough money and connections, anything is possible.

It is highly possible, the AE 'verts MSRP was around 54-57K and if you added the dearler mark-ups it could have been around 65K. BTW, it's not uncommon for Corvettes to retail in other countries for 65-80K.

During the years that GM was unofficially supporting the racing community, the factories were producing cars to include the Corvette with some serious "un-documented" performance options. So there are probably some very rare C2's/C3's with un-documented options.
Roger Judski's 1969 ZL-1 Corvette... one of only 2 factory built all aluminum 427 ZL-1's.

This is not that unreasonable. Think about it, did he give you the sticker price, or what he paid out the door? Add in 8+% sales tax in some states, lojac, plates, dealer extras, extended warranty and 65k is what you get.
Track the guy down and see if he will buy my 03 AE, triple Sunset orange Z06 vert with an LS7 A6.... and I will throw in the 3.42
can you pick out the one that doesn't fit?
Daytona Sunset Orange ,tripple at that & in an AE,well I suppose you can go thru 1000$s to do that too? .You can always put an ls7 in an AE,& a six speed auto I suppose?Z06 Vert ,bingo!

With enough money and the right connections, I guess anything would be possible. But, unless I saw the factory documentation, I'd say .

NOW you tell me....LOL
I now own 5 Corvettes, and wait each month for the Social Security Check to come in... so I've been around awhile...
When asked about my 1st corvette I tell the truth...a 62 white with SILVER COVES... that I bought in 1967 when I got out of College...
HONEST...it was a 62 ..and IT DID have Silver Coves ..
Now at the time I had no clue that car did not come fromt he Factory that way...it was not sold to me as a customized car, and truthfully I did not give a da__ !
So if we are seated in a Bar one evening and you ask me about my 1st Corvette do not think I am NUTS or SHOOTING BULL**** if I tell you it was a 62 White with silver coves...
LOL
