I just bought a 99 coupe and the car is fine when its dry. It rained the other day and it sounded like the drive belt was squeaking. Not sure what brand it is. Does anyone have this prob or know the fix, ( Gatorback brand belt maybe?)
I would change the belt. If it squeaks, it must be old, cracking or slipping.
I had this problem on my old supercharged Previa van. It squeaks like a pack of mice when it rains. I bought spray on belt conditioner, it squeaked even more for a 3 days. Then after that, it got quiet and actually squeak-free.
I changed the belt after a few hundred miles nonetheless. It was getting old, might as well change it before it breaks and take other stuff under the hood with it.

You have two belts: the drive belt and system and the ac belt and system.. both systems have an idler and a tension pulley.. If the belt is original and hard it will lose traction. if the tensioner is weak the belt will slip..
I would examine both belts, determine their condition.. Gator back belts seems to be good, also OEM belts are also fine.,..
Water is not going to effect the tensioner itself, but if the tensioner is weak the wet belt could slip.. If it was me and the belts didn't look good I would replace them , more than likely, they are original.
