Default White Vert Top

I bought a 99 vert last year with only 8400 miles on it. According to the dealer, the white vinyl top had never been down. From the condition of the car, I believe it. It looks like it had never been driven. I have had the top down many times and am starting to see a small split starting to develop on each side down near the fender. I'm not sure what is causing it. It doesen't appear to be catching any part of the frame. Seems to be just the way it is folding. Has anyone had this experience? What can I do other than the obvious?

I have a vert but I'm not sure where on the convertible top you are talking about. You say "down near the fender"? Where exactly is that?

Sorry, not a very good discription. What I meant is about 2 inches above the edge of the roof on the side where it sits on the deck. After a few minutes of inspecting the area I found that there are two screws behind the rear side weatherstrip that poke the roof when down. I guess over time it poked through. I took the screws out, filed them down, put them back and covered the remaining tip with velcro. May be something other vert owners should look at.

I hadn't noticed that but I will take a look at it tonight. Thanks for the heads up.

Also, check to see if the corner of your top is being worn from the window hitting it when you close the door (upper left corner on drivers side). For the past 3 or so months, I have to crack my driver side window before shutting the door. My drivers side corner is worn and has a hole. Now that it is getting warm (supposedly a winter problem), the problem has stopped but I still need to fix it. Supposedly adjusting the window tilt will help. Just a FYI.
