Default 2.73 Rear Diff bought by DTE

Just an FYI for those of you switching from 2.73 Rear Diff to something else. DTE paid me $250.00 shipped for my 2.73 Rear Diff. I recieved the check a week from the day they recieved the rear. I thought this was a very fair price. The Rear Diff has to be in good working condition.

I thought it was fair for a 2.73, especially since I got little or no interest when I offered it for sale in the Parts for Sale section. I thought I would spread the word a little for those who didn't know.

I always understood that the smaller the "globe"... the stronger the overall structure.

I wonder if the 2 series Getrag case ends up being the more rugged of the two ???

DTE bought my 2.73:1 gears as well, and paid promptly

Great outfit - two thumbs up

We do typically purchase 2 and 3-series differentials from private owners and other businesses as long as they are in good working condition with *absolutely* no cracks, no broken parts, no missing parts or no fractured fins of any kind anywhere on the case.

If you're sending us a core to sell and don't know if it's acceptable to sell or not, ask yourself- "Would I like this core built for me"? Use that question as your compass for an honest decision and everything will go smooth for you and DTE.

Best Regards,
DTE

It went very smooth for me and that is why I am spreading the word. DTE was a pleasure to work with. Thank you DTE.

Great response for those selling used parts to other members would it be something that you would buy, thanks for your input

To add to what we said above- If someone does have a core to sell with a few missing parts, broken from racing, etc., we do also buy them from time to time to use as visual educational aids for our customers here at the shop and at trade shows. They are pro-rated in price of course based on the circumstance, as most are treated as scrap parts that will never see additional service ever again through DTE. (we've got a *LOT* of Getrag door stops around here... )

Just another option for someone to get something back for their partial or damaged core when they would have gotton nothing for it before.

Best Regards,
DTE

They will machine it and make a 3 series out of it and sell it for $850 or so. Still $250.00 beats leaving it lay around.

FYI- That is an inaccurate, old myth that we have no idea where it came from, as we have stated otherwise many times, in many threads of the past.

Additionally, our core charge for any C5 Corvette differential is only $700 after upgrade modifications have been performed, not $850..

Best Regards,
DTE
