Marks on wheel from alignment equipment

Marks on wheel from alignment equipment
Does anyone out there know of any alignment equipment that can clamp onto mag wheels without making those ugly marks on your wheels? If so does any national chain use such equipment? I dred getting alignments anymore because I know there will be 3 more new gouges in my wheels! Signed FED UP!!

I remember seeing a machine at PepBoys many moons ago when I worked there that clamped onto the tire and not the rim. Maybe they still have it. I haven't been for an alignment in the vette and don't care what they use on my minivan so I'm not up on the new equipment.

The shop that I take my vehicles to uses something like this:

Look at page 4 of that pdf to see what they attach to the wheel (called a Universal Wheel Clamp); nothing METALLIC comes into contact with the wheel
