My '02 vert has an intermitant code comming up on the DIC, saying "SERVICE VEHICLE SOON.....SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING" Took it into the dealer, but of course the codes weren't displaying at the time, and they were able to read only a miriad of history codes, which they claim pointed no where. When the codes are displayed, the traction control is in-operative, and the dash light shows such. When the car is re-started, the codes disappear, and everything is fine for a while, but sooner or later, it acts up again. The dealer suggested I bring it in when the codes are displayed, and they'd check it right away - this happened later that same day, so I took it back, but they still couldn't get a meaningful code they could read and understand. Once the car was re-started again, everything was fine. I did notice later though, that when I stepped on the brakes, occasionally the dash would flash "ACTIVE HANDLING" on the DIC, and I'd feel a light pulse in the pedal. Shortly afterwards, the codes would start again. Any similar experience like this happening out there with a solution? Thanks in advance for the response.
I had a similar situation about a year ago. The DIC would
give the same display, but at the same time, the steering
wheel would pull abruptly to the left. They replaced the
"Magnetic Steering Control Module". I have no idea what
in the world that is, but that is what my service ticket said.
Good luck!
My steering is un-affected when the codes come up, but the traction control acts up....the dealer tested the steering, and the controls passed. Thanks for the reply.
