Default Stock tire size? Replacement?

I spent all day yesterday searching the threads and I could not find a particular answer to a specific question I have. I am going to be replacing the Nitto 555 on the Z, haven't decided which one yet but these Firestone Wide Track Ovals are impressing me.

Anyways

The Nittos I have are larger than OEM and when I was telling the tire guy this to try to find a pair of Firestones that were larger than OEM he said I shouldn't change from stock tire size because the vehicle was manufactured with these tires and handling was tested with OEM sizes and changing to a larger tire could affect the car negatively.

I have not noticed a difference with the larger tires however I did not have the car when it had stockers on it.

Any thoughts on this?

Thank you,

Rach

Well tire size can be a subjective opinion, some manufacturers sizes vary slightly in width, for instance the Nitto's and Firestones appear to be a bit narrower than the Goodyears or Michelins in the same size, alot of guys run 275's up front since its a very common size compared to the 265's There is a range of sizes that fit on a given rim width, just make sure you stay in these guidelines and you will be fine. Good Luck

Thank you all! I am getting the Firestone Wide Track Ovals and will probably go back to stock size.

Currently I have 305s on the rear and they seem to track terribly on the highway in the semi treads.

I am hoping that a stock size will fix that and wear less over the long run. I am going to hang on to my old tires for track events.
